At one time a science major, Catherine’s journey through Landscape Architecture began when she enrolled in an elective course, titled “The Appreciation of Landscape Architecture,” which opened her up to a whole new world. In 2012, she emigrated from China to the United States to pursue her dreams of a career in Landscape Architecture.
Catherine began her professional career in a design-build practice in Miami Beach, Florida, and joined RJI in 2016. Since then, Catherine has been actively involved in various project typologies including private residential, hospitality, resorts, and civic projects. As a Senior Associate in the firm, Catherine helps facilitate her team’s production and coordination work from schematic design through construction administration. Catherine is interested in the preservation, enhancement, and transformation of landscapes and urban spaces to bridge the gap between humans and nature, creating site specific solutions for clients and the public. Through years of learning and practice, Catherine has witnessed the progressive growth of this discipline and is thrilled to be part of it.
Catherine is a foodie due to the heavy influence of food culture in China. In her spare time, she likes to explore different restaurants and experiment with unique recipes even though they may not always work. She is also a photography and travel enthusiast, both activities that have taken her across the United States, giving her the opportunity to visit its National Parks and experience their unique landscapes.
