Jason Lowe was born and raised in Jamaica. As a child, he loved to adventure and explored the Caribbean island’s mountainous geography and diverse subtropical fauna and flora. His father was a prominent architect in Jamaica who specialized in resort and residential design. He was also influenced by his grandfather, an avid artist who painted landscapes and enjoyed gardening. In the late 1970s, Jason relocated to Miami, Florida where he pursued an education in architecture to follow in his father’s footsteps. After graduating from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Architecture, he worked in the field for a year before realizing he was more passionate about the organic, natural elements that surrounded the buildings rather than the buildings themselves. He was captivated by the vast planting palette which provided infinite creative possibilities through its diverse forms, colors, and textures. It was this fluid ability to be surrounded by nature in an “outside the box” manner, that made landscape architecture so alluring.
After making the switch to the “greener” side of architecture, Jason has over 18 years of experience working with landscape architects that specialize in institutional, golf course community planning, high-end residential, commercial and retail design. He previously worked for a reputable Miami-based design-build firm where he acquired critical knowledge of project development from initial design phases through installation and completion.
Jason joined RJI in January 2019 and has been heavily involved in construction detailing and assisting with project development and production.
Jason’s hobbies include travel, music, & gardening. His home garden is his laboratory where he experiments and is continually developing his knowledge of plants. He’s an avid tennis player and also enjoys playing golf as well as spending quality time with his wife and daughter.
