Jieping Yang joined RJI as a designer in 2022 after graduating from University of Michigan – Ann Arbor with a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture and a certification in Data Science.
Originally from a small scenic city by the Yangtze River in China, Jieping has a good sense of natural diversity, colors, textures and always possesses a passion for beauty in nature. Furthermore, she has been studying painting since she was 6, which allows her to appreciate aesthetics, and combine it with her professional acknowledgment of landscape architecture designing.
Throughout her professional studies, she gained competent knowledge for ecological design, urban stormwater management, woody plants and ecosystem. Her passion also extended to data analysis and computer science during her graduate life, and she is proficient in using Python, R, and C++. Her Master’s thesis focused on evaluating the influence of park attributes on user satisfaction from Flickr data for Southeast Michigan, which is an interdisciplinary practice. After joining RJI, Jieping aspires to enrich her knowledge in Landscape Architecture field, and add value to thoughtful design projects with the team.
After work Jieping enjoys traveling to appreciate the greatness of nature, especially all kinds of national parks. She also enjoys snowboarding in her free time when travelling during winter. Jieping now is discovering fun things to do in Florida after moving from Michigan.
