Originally from San Diego, California, Robert grew up just a few miles away from the Tijuana border. With over 20 years of experience as a practicing artist, he has exhibited his work across the United States, contributing to both public projects and institutional exhibitions. During his graduate studies in fine art, Robert’s research delved into public spaces and formal gardens, which greatly influenced the development of his work. This fascination with spatial organization, construction techniques, and planting design eventually led him to return to school, this time to specialize in landscape architecture.
As a landscape designer, Robert has immersed himself in the ecologies of California, particularly those of Los Angeles and San Francisco. His approach centers on translating the unique qualities of each site into distinctive and engaging forms. His background in construction has further shaped his perspective on the built environment, giving him an appreciation not just for the finished surface, but for the underlying structures and how they are assembled.
Creativity fuels every aspect of Robert’s work, whether sketching, building physical models, or working in digital mediums. Beyond his creative pursuits, he has a passion for studying philosophy, traveling whenever possible, and training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
